HOSPICE EL PASO

MISSION STATEMENT:

Hospice El Paso is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care that honors the dignity of every patient and supports families through serious illness, end-of-life, and grief. As the only nonprofit hospice in our community, we ensure that care is accessible to all—regardless of ability to pay—while offering physical, emotional, and spiritual support when it is needed most.

PROGRAM NAME & DESCRIPTION:

The Butterfly Program provides specialized hospice and palliative care for children facing life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses. This program supports not only the child, but the entire family—offering expert medical care, emotional and spiritual support, and guidance through some of life’s most difficult moments. From memory-making activities to grief support and caregiver education, the Butterfly Program ensures that every child is surrounded by comfort, dignity, and love.

In addition, the program is developing a family-centered educational booklet to help guide parents through the clinical and emotional aspects of their child’s journey, providing support in a format they can revisit at their own pace.

HOW WE’LL USE THE FUNDS:

Funds raised will directly support pediatric patients and families served through our Butterfly Program. Specifically, funds will:

• Provide comfort items and memory-making experiences for children and their families

• Support specialized pediatric training and resources for clinical staff

• Offer grief and bereavement support tailored to children, siblings, and parents

• Develop and produce a Butterfly Program Family Support Booklet, a compassionate, easy-to-read guide that helps families understand symptoms, what to expect as their child’s condition progresses, and how to navigate the emotional journey

• This booklet will be thoughtfully designed with comforting imagery (non-patient specific) to create a more engaging and supportive experience

• It will be available in both English and Spanish to ensure accessibility for the families we serve

• Help cover uncompensated care, ensuring no child is denied services due to inability to pay

These funds will allow us to expand and strengthen our ability to care for some of the most vulnerable patients in our community with compassion and dignity.
